About Alzheimer's Queensland

Empowering older people to maintain their independence and wellbeing

Founded in 1983, Alzheimer’s Queensland (AQ) is Australia’s largest dementia association, which also caters to older Australians requiring loving care and support.

As an inclusive organisation, we strive to create meaningful lives, by tailoring a person’s living arrangements and lifestyle to best meet their, or their loved one’s needs.

We are a progressive, not-for-profit organisation providing a comprehensive and bespoke suite of world-class aged care services, delivered by more than 500 allied healthcare professionals, registered nurse care, expert lifestyle, community respite, and hospitality and domestic personnel.

Our services include community respite (in home and centre care), home care packages, specialist dementia care services, education and training, and a Dementia Help Line operated by healthcare professionals.

Renowned for our excellence in service provision, we also offer a variety of allied health services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and wellness programs.

At AQ, we believe every individual has a unique set of experiences and abilities that should be celebrated and optimised at every stage of life.

We pay extra attention to the needs of consumers from LGBTI and diverse cultural backgrounds. Our specialist staff and supporters share our belief, and work every day with our clients to empower them to enjoy a good life.

Our mission

Our mission at AQ is to work collectively with our clients, to maintain their dignity, remain socially and physically active, and deter their premature placement in residential facilities.
