the year 2000, it is estimated that half a million
people Australia-wide will be diagnosed with Alzheimer's
Disease. As Australia's population ages, more and
more attention will be focused on issues concerning
older people, including the appropriate care for those
suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's Disease and
support for their carers.
This
video gives a brief overview of dementia and Alzheimer's
Disease and looks at how some families are caring
for a person with dementia at home, with support.
The video introduces the Alzheimer's Association of
Queensland, outling the philosophy of the organisation
and the kind of support that it offers to people with
dementia and their carers.
