    • available between the hours of 7am - 8pm, 7 days per week.

Garden City Respite Centre (Working Carers Service) - provides centre-based respite services:
    • specifically for carers who are working, studying or looking for work; and are caring for people with dementia and/or frail of age who may or may not have higher care needs.
    • available between the hours of 6am - 8pm, 7 days per week.
    • emergency on-call centre based respite (including overnight respite care).

Centre-Based Care

Centre-based care or respite provides a break for the person with dementia and their carer, and if the carer is working, it enables employment or study commitments to be maintained.

Respite offers the person with dementia or person who is frail of age, the opportunity for the participation with others in various activities according to their interests and needs.

Respite care may be for part of a day or a few separate days in the week. Flexible hours provide opportunities for weekend, early mornings and evening respite, enabling respite to be provided across the course of a day/week.

Transport to centre-based care

Carers are encouraged to discuss transport options with the Centre Manager of the respite centre.
